About This Episode

Relating to someone other than oneself is a basic human need that lends itself to different relationship archetypes: the nurturing mother, the supportive friend, the romantic lover.

But the complications and confusion come when we suddenly have relationships that don’t fit into these archetypes. What if the mother is neglectful or overbearing instead of nurturing? What if the friend is distant or unavailable instead of supportive? What if the significant other is far from romantic and not at all loving or caring?

This is a fun episode to listen to because we will untangle all the complexities that every relationship presents. We use the word “fun” loosely, because though the topics and issues tackled may be heavy, serious, or seem a little bit convoluted, my guests have been nothing but interesting, inspiring, and engaging, not to mention generous enough in dishing out invaluable life lessons.
